UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is hoping to introduce more part-time courses next year.

According to UTB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah Hj Sulaiman, the university currently has two part-time courses, both in computing.

The two courses are Bachelor of Science in Internet Computing and the Bachelor of Business in Business Information Systems.

She said the introduction of more part-time courses is still in its planning stages, and the university will be conducting surveys to identify the potential part-time courses.

“It will be focused on all courses (not just engineering and computing), but, we do have to be selective. We have to do surveys to find (what we should offer) to our part-timers,” she said in an interview during the UTB convocation rehearsal yesterday.

She said the new part-time courses will not only cater for undergraduate students, but will also cater for post-graduate students.

“We want to expand our part-time courses, we need to expand it. These courses will be for mature students who are already working, who also want to further their studies,” she said.

Dr Hjh Zohrah said the implementation is needed for the university and for the sultanate as it will give the public more opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills, at the same time, continue to work at their jobs.

“This is our role as a university, to continue to support students and the people. To help educate everyone for the lifelong learning,” she said.
