Brunei to host cardiology congress

THE Brunei Cardiac Society will be hosting the 22nd ASEAN Federation of Cardiology Congress (AFCC) 2017 from November 3 to 5 next year.

According to the AFCC 2017 website, the congress aims to update health professionals who share a common interest in cardiology.

In a message posted on the site, President of the Brunei Cardiac Society Dr Isham Jaafar and AFCC 2017 Organising Committee Chairman Dr Sofian Johar, said the scientific programme will include plenaries, symposiums, interactive sessions, pre-congress workshops, poster sections and free paper presentations.

“There will also be state-of-the-art updates and cutting-edge technology applied for cardiology practice, and the trade may tap opportunities to share product updates, launch new products and conduct educational programmes,” they said.

According to the website, submission of abstracts for the congress opens on March 17 next year, and closes on June 30, while registrations for the congress will begin on July 31.

Abstracts must be written in English and the abstract body should not exceed 250 words, it said.

“Only original abstracts of research done substantially in ASEAN countries qualify for the Young Investigator Award presentation and authors should be below the age of 40.

Cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologist trainees, general practitioners, paediatricians, nurses, allied health professionals and technicians were encouraged to attend the congress.
