THE Chinese Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will send an appeal letter to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for its reinstatement, one of the members of the association announced during a meeting at the Orchid Garden Hotel yesterday.

The member said all legal matters have been settled.

The plaintiff has agreed to inform the lawyer to discharge the lawsuit.

“The reinstatement of CCC will help attract foreign investors from other countries such as China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and others,” said Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin.

He added that this is in line with His Majesty’s titah to attract foreign direct investment for certain industries.

According to a report in 2013, the suspension of CCC was due to fake ballots found during the chamber’s elections in December 2011. During the election, the committee had sent out 340 votes but found 400 votes in the ballot box. The scrutiny found that 124 of the 400 votes cast were fake or invalid.

The RoS partially lifted the suspension to allow the group to conduct some of its activities such as giving academic awards, extending scholarships and paying for pension funds.
