TWO teenagers were each imposed a fine yesterday after they admitted to stealing from their neighbour’s house.

At the Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Abdul Malik Fazil Mohammad, 19, was imposed a $2,300 fine while co-accused Muhd Sumardey Hj Abdullah, 18, was imposed a $1,800 fine. Abdul Malik was further ordered to pay $200 as compensation for damage he caused on a car.

The court ordered the duo to pay their fines by November 7 or serve their respective in-default imprisonment sentence of five weeks and four weeks respectively if fines are unpaid. According to court records, it stated that between August 4 and August 15 this year, defendants Abdul Malik and Muhd Sumardey each went to their neighbour’s house in Kg Ayer to commit theft. On one occasion, the duo banded together to steal more items from the same house. Abdul Malik was eventually arrested on October 17, this year when the owner of a Suzuki Alto saw the teenager smashing the rear passenger window of his car. Abdul Malik had smashed the window because he saw a bag inside the car which he intended to steal.
