Khatam, special forum for UTB, UBD students

UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) yesterday held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the University mosque in conjunction with its convocation this year.

The event saw participation of 216 students set to graduate on November 7.

The ceremony began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the event’s guest of honour, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman, minister of education.

Also in attendance were Pg Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar, deputy minister of education; Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah Hj Sulaiman, vice-chancellor of UTB; senior officials from the Ministry of Education and UTB. The UTB Convocation Ceremony 2016 for a total of 599 Masters and Undergraduate degree, HND Level 5 and BDTVEC HND graduates will be held at the International Convention Centre.

Meanwhile, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) organised a special forum in conjunction with the Ma’al Hijrah celebration yesterday. The forum titled “We Want to be Successful” aims to reinforce the commitment of members of UBD to the practice of Islam as a complete way of life, to share tips on how to attain success in one’s life, and underscore the importance of migration towards goodness, as well as an event to observe the Hijrah New Year 1438.

Present as the guest of honour was Datin Dr Hjh Anita Binurul Zahrina Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abdul Aziz, UBD vice-chancellor.

Members of the panel speakers included Ustaz Isyam Ismail of Islamic Da’wah Centre and Ustazah Hjh Siti Hanisah Hj Othman, a PhD candidate in Islamic Pedagogy, Memorisation of Al-Quran and Technology, UBD.
