THE newly appointed Australian High Commissioner to Brunei, Nicola Rosenblum, vowed to further strengthen her country’s relationship with Brunei, particularly in business, education and human development.

In a statement, Rosenblum noted the close relations enjoyed by both states for over 30 years.

Brunei and Australia have benefitted from a long academic relationship with each other as Australia remains a popular destination amongst Bruneian students to further their education, she said.

For Brunei, more Australian students are studying in the country as a result of the Australian scholarship programme called the New Colombo Plan, she added.

Rosenblum also expressed hopes that both countries will continue to work together to advance economic cooperation through trade agreements in order to support the growth opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, she stated that the High Commission will continue to further promote cross-cultural understanding through programmes in culture, sports, and the arts by working with local schools and community groups.
