THE Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA) yesterday outlined their programmes for next year in conjunction with their 31st anniversary.

KACA’s plans for 2017 includes the continuation of its Phase 2 Project Menabung KACA (2016- 2020), expanding the home-based project for 2017/2018 and a visit to differently-abled members of society (OKU) centre overseas.

The non-governmental organisation plans to conduct events including the KACA Walkathon 2017/2018, a national and ASEAN-level colouring and drawing contest in conjunction with its 31st anniversary in March.

The 31st anniversary was commemorated yesterday with a mass recitation of Surah Yassin and a thanksgiving prayer ceremony at the KACA Centre in Kiulap.

President of KACA Dato Paduka Hj Zainal Momin attended the ceremony as the guest of honour with invited guests, including members of KACA, parents, volunteers as well as students from Universti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The event began with mass Maghrib prayers, followed by a mass recital of Surah Yassin and a doa kesyukuran before concluding with mass Isya prayers.

KACA currently has a total of 550 members spread across three branches in Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Belait.

The organisation, established in 1986, is one of the prominent non-government organisations providing care and guidance for children with special needs.
