Lim Teck Hoo Holdings donate to schools for 20th year

BRUNEIAN firm Lim Teck Hoo Holdings donated $52,000 to eight Chinese schools and the Brunei Chess Association yesterday, the 20th straight year it has presented the funds.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lim Teck Hoo Holdings Dato Lim Beng Thai said the donation aims to help improve the schools’ facilities, promote the development of the Chinese language, and nurture young talents as a way of giving back to society.

During the donation presentation ceremony at the Lim’s residence, Brunei’s largest Chinese school, Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB, received the highest amount of $20,000.

Chung Ching Middle School in Seria and Chung Hua Middle School in Kuala Belait received $10,000 each, while Chung Hwa School in Labi, Chung Lian School in Seria, Chung Hwa School in Tutong, Chung Hwa School in Kiudang and Pai Yuek School in Temburong received $2,000 each.

Lim Teck Hoo Holdings also gave a $2,000 donation to the Brunei Chess Association.

The company’s charitable deeds started when the CEO’s late father, Pehin Temenggong Dato Lim Teck Hoo and his wife started donating to improve the infrastructure of local Chinese schools and provide scholarships to needy students in 1997.
