TWENTY personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday received their rank insignia during a promotion ceremony held at the police headquarters in Gadong.

Police Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Hj Mohd Jammy Hj Muhd Shah Al-Islam was present at the ceremony to place the rank insignia on the officers’ uniforms.

Five senior inspectors and an inspector were promoted to Chief Inspector of Police while nine inspectors were promoted to Senior Inspector of Police.

Senior Inspector Pg Hj Symshahai’rul Ismar Pg Hj Shahbudin said that he was proud to be promoted after 13 years of service.

“I am very thankful and grateful that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam promoted me. All the service that I have done has not been for myself but for the RBPF and the safety of members of the public,” said the senior inspector.

“I urge younger personnel to be brave and strive in their service for the nation through this career,” he added.

Meanwhile, ASP Ismail Ibrahim also expressed his gratitude for being promoted after seven years of service in the RBPF.

He said that he had always dreamed of being a police officer as he comes from a family that has served in the RBPF.

“There are definitely more responsibilities that we have to undertake,” said the officer who works for the Marine Police.

“I will continue with my team to keep peace on our waters. I do hope that with this promotion, my colleagues will be more motivated in carrying out their daily duties while improving the professionalism of our force,” he added.
