43 gov’t servants to receive awards for excellent service today

FORTY-THREE government servants are expected to receive the Excellent Civil Service Award 2016 in a ceremony at the International Convention Centre today.

During a rehearsal for the 23rd Civil Service Day celebration yesterday, Public Service Department officer on hand, Dk Nur Amalina Pg Hj Jasni said the awards are given annually to members in the public service who have performed beyond their job requirements.

Nominees are chosen based on the individuals’ personality, dedication, reliability, accountability and discipline.

They are also nominated based on special criteria which are talents, skills and creativity.

It also hoped to motivate civil servants in improving their productivity at work and quality of their service.

The awards are organised as part of Civil Service Day celebrations, which carry the theme “Transformation Towards a Progressive Civil Service”.

Excellent Civil Service Award 2016 will also see various groups of civil servants with the best project papers and proposal papers on enhancing service efficiency.

The number of civil servants expected to be awarded this year was a slight increase compared to 39 last year.

A clerk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MoFAT), Mohammad Noh Kamaludin, one of the recipients who is expected to receive an award today, said he has been working at MoFAT for seven years.

“I feel honored and blessed to be selected for the award and will continue to deliver my best,” he said at the rehearsal of the civil service award celebrations yesterday.

The recipients in the division two, three, four and five will receive $1,000, a plaque and certificate of appreciation.
