THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has apprehended two local men suspected to be involved in a theft at Masjid Kg Lorong 3 Selatan that occurred on Tuesday.

In a statement, the police said they received a report of a theft at around 2.30am on that day.

Findings upon initial investigation led them to two local men, a 29-year-old and 31-year-old, believed to be residents of the village itself.

Sources said the act was caught through the mosque’s CCTV, where one of them was seen carrying away the metal donation box.

After filing the report, the sources said police then came to carry out their investigations.

Confirming the incident, Village head of Kg Lorong 3 Selatan Seria Hj Saidin Hj Ibrahim noted that this was not the first time it has happened as there are several similar incidents that have gone unreported.

While there are already CCTVs up at the mosque, he hoped that more security measures will be taken to prevent similar things from happening again.

Additionally, the police said the two suspects and their case will be handed over to the Attorney General’s Chamber.
