THE youth groups of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah will continue receiving from members of the public donations for its charity project until Sunday.

The community service, which is jointly organised by the mosque’s Syababurroja Youth Group and Muslimah Group, is part of the second phase of the project dubbed ‘Mulianya Berbagi’, which aims to help underprivileged families as well as fire victims.

Today, the Syababurroja and Muslimah group will begin to receive donations from the public at the Muqaddam and Quran administration building of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.

In an interview, Mudim Hj Suhaili Hj Kalong, the project coordinator, said that for the second phase, they hope to get more groceries.

“We received a lot of clothes previously and this time we are hoping to collect more basic necessities or groceries like canned goods, bags of rice, cooking oils and food for babies,” said Mudim Hj Suhaili.

In the first phase of the project, the youth groups managed to collect more than 10,000 items of basic necessities and distributed them to hundreds of unfortunate families.

“Alhamdulillah, previously we managed to distribute the donated items to more than 200 families in three districts. We will distribute the items (we can collect) in Temburong within this month,” he said, adding that last night, around 10 families also received donations.

“We hope this project will attract more people and companies to come forward and help us. Besides helping people who are in need of assistance, this project will also train the young committee members to have empathy towards unfortunate people in the country,” said Mudim Hj Suhaili, also the mosque officer of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.

The committee welcomes the public to donate starting today from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
