BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
ELIGIBLE citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam can now apply online for the 2017/2018 Chevening Scholarships.
The scholarships, funded by the United Kingdom (UK) Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partners, offer recipients the opportunity to take up a one-year Master’s degree course at any leading university in the UK.
Among the fees included as part of the Chevening Scholarships are university tuition fees, monthly stipends, travel costs to and from the UK as well as arrival and a homeward departure allowance.
According to the Chevening website, all applicants must have an undergraduate degree that will enable them to gain entry into a postgraduate programme at a UK university and at least two years’ work experience.
Chevening on its website also said that applicants from Brunei can choose any course of study at any UK higher education institution.
Applicants must apply to three different UK university courses, and have received an unconditional offer from one of them as well as meet the Chevening English Language requirement by July 13, 2017.
However, those who have been awarded a bachelor’s degree or higher that was taught in full at a university located and accredited in several countries including Australia, Belize, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, the UK and the United States are exempt from submitting an English Language test for a Chevening scholarship.
The deadline for applications for the 2017/2018 Chevening Scholarships is November 8.
