UBD organises Convo Run & Cycle

UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will be organising a Convo Run & Cycle event next Sunday, in conjunction with its 28th Convocation Ceremony taking place today.
According to UBD’s website, participants can join in the event by running or cycling in any of the four categories, namely the 3.3km Fun Run; 5.3km Run (male and female); 10km Run (male and female) and 27 km Fun Cycle.
The event which is open to UBD staff, students, Class of 2016 graduates, Alumni and the public, will be held at the UBD Sports Complex, and the registration fee is $28 for each participant. UBD said 10 per cent of the proceeds will go to charity.
The race pack collection date will be on October 20 and 22 during office hours at the Chancellor Hall.
The route for the 27km Fun Cycle will begin at UBD, onto The Empire Hotel, Rimba, Berakas Highway and end at UBD.
There will be one pit stop at the Berakas Highway for water break, and to re-group for the final stretch of the route.
For the Fun Cycle, UBD said participants are advised to use either a road bike or a mountain bike, and must be able to maintain an average speed of 25km/hr.
Participants who wish to use other kind of bicycle such as fat bike or folding bike are also welcome.
All participants must wear a proper helmet, and bicycles must have fully functional brakes.
The estimated duration to complete the route is about one hour 10 minutes. UBD said further updates will be notified via its website at www.ubd.edu.bn and any inquiries can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
UBD’s 28th Convocation Ceremony will be held today at the Chancellor Hall, where His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is expected to attend and award PhD and degree graduates with certificates.
