BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
THE Syababurroja Youth Group and Muslimah Group of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah through its community project, handed out contributions from members of the public to a total of 184 families in the Brunei Muara, Belait and Tutong district.
Coordinator of the project, Mudim Hj Suhaili Hj Kalong said the groups continued their donations on Thursday to 48 families residing at Kampung Junjongan and the Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme (STKRJ) Kampung Lumapas A.
The project themed Mulianya Berbagi (Giving is Noble) in conjunction with Awal Tahun Hijrah 1438 is aimed to collect basic necessities from members of the public for those who are less fortunate and underprivileged.
These contributions include rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour, cleaning utensils, among others.
One of the recipients, who only wishes to be known as Awang, said he and his family are grateful for the donations.
“Alhamdulillah, these are the items that we actually need as I don’t earn much and my wife is unemployed.”
Awang and his wife have two children who are 7 and 9 years old.
The 38-year-old said the donations were a blessing and prayed that Allah SWT blesses those who have contributed as well as the organisers.
Sharing the same sentiments, another recipient who preferred anonymity said she feels blessed for the donations.
“It’s not every day that we receive donations from anyone so my family and I are grateful. We hope whoever donated will be given rezeki (rewards or sustenance) by Allah SWT.”
On October 5, both groups presented donations to 52 families from the Belait and Tutong district.
The donations were collected from September 25 to October 4, where both groups received overwhelming responses from members of the public.
Mudim Hj Suhaili said they are thankful for the donations given by members of the public.
