MUSLIMS are reminded to always be sincere in their everyday religious acts to ensure a blessed life.

Pg Hj Mohammad Hafizuddin Pg Hj Bakar, a Mosque Affairs Department officer, said this in his talk titled “Harta Berkat Negara Selamat”, as part of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports celebration of the new Islamic calendar.

The MCYS marked the event by hosting a religious ceremony attended by its minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi Hj Mohd Yusof as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with a recital of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the talk.

“We need to change our characters, attitudes, heart and minds to make sure that we remain faithful,” said the mosque affairs officer who warned that there is a trap of falling into the mistakes made by Muslims in the past.

“The syaitan is always attempting to influence us and have us swayed to not only forget our faith but to follow their ways.

“May we not fall for such lures,” he said. He urged the audience to evaluate their way of life and to be more sincere.

“For example, do the Hajj for the sake of the Almighty not just to get the title of ‘Haji’ or ‘Hajah’. We must be sincere in all conducts,” he said. According to a statement issued by the MCYS, this year’s Hijrah celebration was organised by the Youth and Sports Department in an attempt to enliven the religious day while fostering better ties for all members of the ministry. Also present at the ceremony were the permanent secretaries, Dato Paduka Dr Hj Affendy Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin and Datin Paduka Dr Hjh Norlila Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Jalil.
