A MEMBER of the Brunei Darussalam Scout Association (PPNBD) left for Bangkok, Thailand, recently to participate in a regional scout workshop.

Scouts Executive Officer Zainudin Hj Ishak will take part in the “Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Workshop on Strengthening Internal and External Communications in Scouting”, alongside 30 scout leaders from 17 countries across the region.

From October 11 to 14, the participants will explore different ways to improve their communication with stakeholders such as volunteers, donors, media and policymakers.

The workshop aims to identify and understand the target audience of scouting, share tactics for internal and external communications using conventional and new media and learn the art of telling and sharing scouting stories through multimedia.

It also seeks to review and make recommendations on communication channels within national scout organisations.

“Just as important is understanding and delivering our core message to young audiences — the Generation Z or iGen — which ultimately supports our vision of making scouting the preferred organisation for young people,” said Zainudin.

He added it was imperative for scout leaders to reach, interact and inspire current and potential members through various media channels.
