THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday appealed to the public to help find a man involved in theft and fraud after videos of his “quick change” scam went viral.

CCTV footage of the incident in a Bunut store showed the suspect swindling a cashier by requesting for smaller notes in exchange for a large denomination. After the cashier handed over the smaller notes, the man allegedly changed his mind and asked for the large bill to be returned.

The suspect was seen taking some money from the bundle of change before pretending to give back the full amount to the cashier and walking away from the store.

The cashier only realised she was shortchanged moments later when she was counting the smaller notes.

According to RBPF, the incident occurred on October 1 and a report was lodged at the Central Police Station on October 6.

RBPF sought the cooperation of the public to provide information via the emergency hotline at 993 or any nearby police station.
