BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
ALLIANCE Francaise de Brunei (AF Brunei) and the Rainforest Gallery yesterday launched a month-long art exhibition featuring the works of hearing-impaired local artist Pei Yee.
Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Hjh Romaizah Hj Md Salleh was present to officially launch the exhibition at the AF Brunei building in Jalan Batu Bersurat.
AF Brunei Director Yann Carpentier said the exhibition is aimed to promote ties between the two countries and showcase their cultural diversity.
“We like (to feature) artworks made by Bruneians that show links between Brunei and France” he told The Brunei Times.
He said AF Brunei and the Rainforest Gallery selected the 21-year-old painter as her work showcases the two countries.
Carpentier said the exhibition, which features 22 artworks, is open to members of the public from 9am to 5.30pm.
He went on to say that AF Brunei will continue to work with Rainforest Gallery in featuring more talented local artists in the future.
The owner and manager of the Rainforest Gallery, Dato Shofry Abdul Ghafor, said the exhibition hopes to popularise the works of Pei Yee in the country.
“The exhibition is aimed to showcase her talents,” he said, adding they hope to also help other talented local artists in the future.
