Brunei goods to be showcased in Makassar
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
BRUNEIAN products will be featured at the Third BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Trade Expo, Conference and Business Matching 2016 next week in Makassar, Indonesia.
Eko Himawan, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy, said entrepreneurs from the sultanate will participate in the upcoming event from October 14-16 in the capital of the South Sulawesi Province, where Brunei’s various products will be displayed in 10 booths.
“Superior products from members of this sub-regional economic cooperation will also be featured during the expo,” said Eko.
The expo is one of the biggest exhibition platforms in the sub-regional area, where stakeholders from various industrial sectors from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand will gather to promote and market their products.
“We hope that more entrepreneurs from Brunei will be joining in the biennial event, including those who have not participated before,” he said.
He added that through the event, businesses can network and learn about new trends or technology not only from Indonesia but also from other countries.
The event is also intended to facilitate networking and matchmaking possibilities for both local businesses and their foreign counterparts in various sectors such as maritime, fisheries, agriculture, services, tourism, manufacturing and infrastructure.
Established in 1994, the Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), aims to increase trade, investment and tourism in the region.
According to its official website, last year’s Trade Expo Indonesia attracted more than 10,000 visitors from over 100 countries.
