Tutong Sixth Form Centre champion of JA Brunei biz competition

THE Junior Achievement (JA) Brunei yesterday held its first ever Student Company of the Year Competition which saw the Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTET) team emerging as champion.

As the winning team, Stygian & Co will now represent Brunei Darussalam in the Asia Pacific JA Company of the Year Competition which will be held in February of next year in Tokyo, Japan.

According to a statement issued by the organisation yesterday, participants of the Student Company of the Year Competition were from their JA Company Programme that teaches students how to start their businesses and how to succeed in the global economy.

“The JA Company Programmes complement existing curriculums such as Business and Art Technology and Brunei Entrepreneurs Education Scheme, to impart entrepreneurial spirits and values among Bruneian youth,” the statement read.

Student representatives from four sixth form centres were then chosen to take part in the competition namely, PTET, Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (Maktab Duli), Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTES) and Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM).

Team Innovance from Maktab Duli won second place followed by Bonana Company from PTEM and Downlifted from PTES.

Participating teams were not judged solely on their financial success but were also required to demonstrate their understanding on how and why their companies performed as it did.
