Nationwide mass prayers to mark new Hijrah year

THE Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday encouraged Muslims nationwide to attend the mass prayers to welcome the new Hijrah year which is going to be held across Sultanate before the Maghrib prayers on September 30.

In a statement, the ministry urged Muslim congregants to seek blessings and protection from Allah (SWT) and pray to welcome the new year of the Islamic calendar after the Maghrib prayers on that day to bring mercy and favour for all Muslims.

The ministry announced that the celebrations will begin at 5pm at all mosques and prayer halls throughout the country with the focal point being at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah on September 30.

The ministry held a full rehearsal yesterday in preparation for the Ma’al Hijrah 1438 celebrations that will begin next week at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong.

The Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, was present to oversee the preparations as the chairman of the celebration’s organising committee along with other committee members.

The national theme for the upcoming celebrations this year is ‘Harta Berkat Negara Selamat’.

The ministry said that the theme is also the main theme for other national Islamic celebrations and next year’s National Al-Quran Reading Musabaqah for Adults. – Darren Chin
