Youth forum to discuss social entrepreneurship

THE Chevening Alumni Brunei (CAB) will host the Brunei Chevening Youth Forum (BCYF) 2016 Talk Series on the morning of October 8, 2016 at The Core, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

In a statement, CAB said that the talk series aims to bring together up to 100 youths to discuss issues and ideas surrounding the topic of social entrepreneurship and innovation.

CAB said that it aims to continue promoting networking opportunities for youths through BCYF by the interactions between Chevening alumni with youth.

The upcoming talk features an Indonesian Chevening alumnus, Ahmad Fuadi, who founded the Komunitas Menara which is a non-profit foundation that provides access to education to the underprivileged by setting up four schools in Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi.

Ahmad Fuadi will share his thoughts on how young people can spark innovation for social good providing best practices from Indonesia during the talk next week that will begin at 8.30am.

The talk series, which is funded by the Chevening Secretariat under the Chevening Alumni Project Fund, is open to all youths including students from both secondary and tertiary institutions, graduates, young professionals as well as non-governmental organisations.

CAB said that the objective of the talk series is to bring together future leaders and Chevening alumni from Brunei and the region to discuss insights, challenges and opportunities to the development of Brunei.

The Chevening Alumni Brunei, also called Chevening Brunei Association, was formed in 2008 to provide a platform for Chevening scholars from Brunei to share ideas and expertise as well as strengthen Brunei-UK bilateral relations.
