‘Kg Putat MPK’s efforts should be exemplified’
THE minister of home affairs yesterday lauded the efforts of the Kg Putat Village Consultative Council Women’s Bureau in placing importance on children’s education by recently establishing an assistance scheme for underpreviliged students.
“I hope that with cooperation and attentiveness between all parties in the village, it can create a conducive environment and encourage all residents in the village to achieve excellence in all of their endeavors,” said YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong at the Kg Putat Family Day event.
He added that the village consultative council’s (MPK) concerted effort will help improve villagers’ quality of life.
The minister was also impressed with Kg Putat residents’ creativity and food preparation which has contributed to sources of income.
It is through this self-initiative, said the minister, that Kg Putat was able to build and develop the Kg Putat Herbal Recreational Park which has since attracted many visitors.
Yesterday’s event, held at the recreational park, was aimed at fostering closer relations between residents as well as to celebrate the milestones achieved by Kg Putat.
Hj Jumat Akim, Kg Putat village chief, in his opening remarks yesterday said that the activities organised by the Kg Putat MPK during this year’s family day was also aimed to strengthen loyalty to religion, monarch and country as well as preserve their traditions.
“This family day celebration is very significant and effective in terms of fostering relations and bring in unity,” said Hj Jumat.
Among the activities organised included a competition for villagers to showcase their creativity through preparing their specialty food.
