More locals seek jobs at household cleaning firm
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
MORE locals have been applying for a career in cleaning services at a local household cleaning company SparklyDomesticDivas, its founder said yesterday.
Santy Allim said the company, which started in August with a cleaning team of two women, has expanded its workforce to 24 local domestic cleaners or divas.
“Alhamdulillah, the response has been great. On a daily basis we would have a minimum of five Bruneian applicants,” she said in a phone interview.
She said per day, up to 10 houses from all districts would request for cleaning services and hundreds of people have already applied for diva positions since the company was formed.
Santy attributed the rise in customers to social media advertising and local media reports, including from The Brunei Times.
“Through word of mouth people have inclined to use our services,” she said.
Santy said the company is also recruiting people for positions in administration, human resources and operations.
“Apart from Brunei-Muara, we offer our services in Belait and Tutong districts as well.
“We are also looking to expand our services into Temburong district,” she said, adding that selected areas incur additional transportation fees.
“I would also like to point out that we send and pick up the divas as well. We don’t ask customers to send or pick up our employees,” she said. Currently, the company offers promotional rates of house cleaning services for two divas for four hours at $45.
“I would like to thank the government and Darussalam Enterprise (DARE) for their support and for providing us the iCentre (where we currently work from),” she said.
