Doa Selamat marking 26th Teacher’s Day

THE Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday held a Doa Selamat ceremony at the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) Mosque to mark the 26th Teacher’s Day celebration in the sultanate.

Some 1,500 personnel from both ministries attended the ceremony which was led by Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman and Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman.

Officers and teachers from schools and higher education institutions, including those from technical and vocational institutions participated in the religious ceremony.

Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Education Pg Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar and Religious Affairs Deputy Minister Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Mokti Hj Mohd Daud.

The ceremony yesterday began with an Asar prayer led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamidon Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Hamid.

A Ratib Al-Attas reading was led by SOAS Mosque Officer Mudim Hj Ahmad Kasra Hj Ibrahim.

The education ministry said Teacher’s Day will be celebrated next week on September 29 at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre.

Another Doa Kesyukuran is expected to be held on October 1 this year.
