PUSAT Ehsan and the Society for the Management of Autism Related Issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei received a total of $7,500 yesterday from Honey Carsmart Sdn Bhd.

The donation was distributed equally to the two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) whereby each organisation received $3,750.

The donations were collected through Honey Carsmart Sdn Bhd’s Grand Sale which was held in August.

Honey Carsmart Sdn Bhd managed to sell a total of 25 units of used cars during the two-day event.

“Customers who bought the used cars at the event were more than delighted to know that the (proceeds from the sales) would be contributed to charity,” read a statement by the company.

Head of policy and planning at Pusat Ehsan Hj Ahmad Hj Abd Rahman said the association is grateful for the contributions.

He encouraged others to contribute as taking care of the centre’s students is a shared responsibility.

“The centre provides the necessary services but I believe we should all work together to provide funding for the services and cause.”

SMARTER Brunei President Malai Hj Abdullah Malai Hj Othman said he was also grateful for the contributions.

Alhamdulillah at least it will help us to cover our operation costs. Any contributions will definitely help us with sustainability.

“I think this is the issue at the moment... Infrastructure is enough, we just need to cover operational costs every month.”

Malai Hj Abdullah said any contributions from members of the public are more than welcomed.

The donations were presented by the company’s General Manager Michael Nyau Mee Yinn and Director Leslie Lai Vui Kiong.

The used car agent is looking forward to collaborating with the two NGOs in future events.
