Three officials fly off to Shanghai

A DELEGATION of three left the country yesterday to take part in the 4th ASEAN+ Village Leaders Exchange Programme in Shanghai, China. 

The delegation was led by the Senior Special Duties Officer of the Belait District Office, Fadzil Md Yanie along with the Penghulu of Mukim Telisai, Hj Ramli Lahit and the Village Head of Kg Lumut II, Hj Abd Rahman Hashim.

The programme will be held from September 18 until 24 and is organised by China’s International Poverty Reduction Centre with the aim of improving the capacity of the participants in community development and administration.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the exchange programme will allow village leaders from the ASEAN+ countries to exchange knowledge and experiences that will facilitate economical and infrastructural growth of rural communities.

The ministry said that the exchange programme will also expose the participants consisting of village leaders to the methods that China has employed in addressing poverty in remote villages.

“China’s experiences in addressing poverty in rural areas and their development plan for villages will also be introduced during the programme to be discussed among the participants,” read the statement

During the exchange programme, each participant from the ASEAN member states as well as from Japan and Korea will be presenting their respective working papers.
