THE Land Transport Department (LTD) yesterday announced that 11 Class A car dealer workshops have been appointed as vehicle inspection stations.

Beginning September 24, the workshops will be allowed to carry out vehicle inspections on private vehicles (aged seven years and above) as well as commercial vehicles, particularly cars under the workshop’s dealership.

“With the appointment of these 11 workshops, members of the public have a choice to carry out vehicle inspections there, apart from carrying them out at the vehicle inspection centres at LTD branches throughout the country,” LTD said in a press release.

The 11 workshops include Boustead Sdn Bhd, NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd, Bengkel Kereta Berakas and Setia Motors Sdn Bhd among others. The department also said the charges for vehicle inspections at the workshops will be the same as LTD.

Private and commercial vehicles will incur a $5 charge for first inspections, and a $10 charge for a subsequent inspection.

Motorcycles will incur a $2 charge for first inspections, and a $4 charge for a subsequent inspection.
