A STUDENT from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD) was crowned champion of Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College’s (SOASC) 10th Students’ Forum yesterday.

Four student representatives from SUAMPRIPAD, SOASC, Rimba Secondary School and Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Mentiri Secondary School discussed and debated on the topic ‘Pelajar Cemerlang Menurut Perspektif Islam’ (Excellent Students According to the Islamic Perspective) and answered questions from their student peers.

Siti Noor Rafidah Sofry from SUAMPRIPAD was awarded top honours with a score of 73 while SOASC student Abd Mu’min Hj Abd Karim was the first runner-up with 63 points.

Rimba Secondary School’s Zuraini Zainal Abidin earned 57 points for third while Asmawee Alamshah rounded up the final spot with a score of 50.

SOASC Principal Zamain Abdul said they are looking at ways to expand the forum.

“Various topics have been discussed and thoroughly explored, and plenty of schools have been invited to take part in this annual forum. Perhaps it’s time for us to evaluate or review this programme to see how it can be made more effective or given added value if necessary,” he said.

“On the part of the college, we will see how much potential and maybe what collaborative efforts we can have with certain parties in order to maximise the impact of this forum towards human development.”
