THE Fire and Rescue Department promoted three of its superintendent officers to senior superintendents yesterday in a ceremony at its headquarters in Berakas.

The officers received their rank insignias from the guest of honour, Lt Col (R) Yahya Hj Abd Rahman, the department’s director.

Senior Superintendent Taib Hj Abdul Kahar, who was among those promoted, said he will continue to strive hard to educate the public on fire prevention.

“We are continuing to strengthen fire prevention in Brunei where we are making our best efforts to teach the public,” Taib said.

He said the department will also continue to hold roadshows to raise awareness on fire prevention.

Taib urged the department’s officers and personnel to continue to work hard and follow the rules to ensure fire safety in the sultanate.

Senior Superintendent Nohi Irwan Surkarki Hj Pawi, another officer who was promoted, said he is also determined to continue to ensure fire safety in Brunei.

“I feel grateful to hold a rank that is higher. I will continue to strive to give my best efforts and continue to work hard for the department and for Brunei,” he said.

He said he will also continue to raise awareness and, at the same time, educate the public on fire prevention.

Another officer who was promoted, Noor Aflan Kachi, also vowed to continue to ensure the public’s safety.

Alhamdulillah, I’m very happy. It is an encouragement for me to continue to give my dedication to the department and for the country,” he said.
