BDAC to hold programme on team building, youth leadership

THE Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council (BDAC) will be holding its second Training on Teambuilding and Youth Leadership (TTYL) Programme from September 9 to 11 at the Games Village of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Amalia Alidi, media assistant of TTYL, said the programme is aimed to educate and empower young people.
“This training will equip participants with basic skills and knowledge on youth leadership. It will also teach them HIV 101, time management, communication skills, importance of participation, problem solving, teamwork, publicity and media utilisation,” said Amalia.
She said the training will instil confidence in youth who hold managerial positions and enhance teamwork spirit.
She added that participants will be guided by facilitators who are experienced BDAC members.
“From the TTYL, I hope the participants will be able to improve their communication skills, build friendships, connections as well as develop and improve their networking skills, build and improve their self-esteem as well as gain more knowledge on BDAC.”
She added: “As a former participant of TTYL, I gained a lot of experience, knowledge that you may not learn from the school environment.” Joining the programme will allow participants to polish their skills and discover capabilities that they never thought they had, said Amalia adding that the experience will be enjoyable for everyone.
According to Amalia, the BDAC is expecting 40 participants for the training programme.
Those interested must be aged 15 to 26 years old. The fee will be $25 per person inclusive of meals and accommodation.
