RBAirF Airbase Open Day draws huge crowd

THE Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Airbase Open Day yesterday attracted a large number crowd to the Sports Complex of the Rimba Air Base, with plenty of activities for the public to take part in.

The one-day event, which was part of the RBAirF golden jubilee celebrations, aimed to boost the image of the Royal Brunei Air Force and attract students who may be interested in a military career in the air force.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah and family were among those present at the open day event.

Following the opening ceremony, the RBAirF Commander Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar Hj Ma’awiah toured several of the exhibition booths.

Throughout the open day, visitors were treated to a variety arena shows and static displays which put focus on instilling the development and success of the RBAirF’s formation throughout its 50 years.

These include a bazaar, flying fox, car boot sale, paintball, all terrain vehicle rides, pet shows, face painting, colouring contests, and bouncers, among others.

These activities, according to the RBAirF, are hoped to foster family spirit among RBAirF personnel, as well as provide opportunities for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the public.

RBAirF celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 24 with its commander unveiling a sculpture at the Rimba Air Force base’s Air Movement Centre to mark the occasion.
