THE Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) will organise a Young Humanitarian Workshop in December.

Speaking to The Brunei Times, Director of School Cadets and Chairman of the workshop Mohd Rosdi Hj Ruslan said the objective of the workshop is to disseminate information on the seven principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC).

“The workshop will also provide participants a chance to discuss the four strategies of RCRC.”

The four strategies are disaster management, disaster preparation, health awareness and humanitarian work, said Mohd Rusdi.

“Participants will exhange opinions with each other as ‘One Borneo’ because there will be 15 participants from Kota Kinabalu, Labuan and Kuching.”

Director of Communication and Public Affairs of BDRCS Faizal Gurie said humanitarian acts happen at small, medium and large scales such as providing monetary donations every month to help provide food for those in need or going overseas to help the homeless.

“It will be held during the school holidays to give youth an opportunity to participate in beneficial activities.”

Faizal said the workshop will also be open to all NGOs interested. He said the workshop will be held from December 14 to 18 at the SEA Games Village in Berakas.

“Registration for the workshop is now open. The BDRCS are welcoming any participants from the age of 16 to 25 to register.”

The closing date for registration will be on October 30.
