Graduation for ‘Aliyah Qiraat students on September 8

THE graduation ceremony for the fourth batch of students taking the three-year ‘Aliyah Qiraat diploma programme at the Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) is slated to take place on September 8 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office is expected to hand over diploma certificates to graduating students.

The graduates, comprising six male and five female students, began the programme in 2014 and will further their studies overseas said the institute’s acting principal, Pg Hj Haslin Pg Hj Ali during in an interview with The Brunei Times.

He said the students had completed their study in memorising Al-Quran as well as completed modules under Qiraat (recitation methods).

“The students had successfully memorised the 30 juzuk (chapters) of Al-Quran within three years and managed to study ten different methods of reciting Quran.”

The acting principal hoped that the graduates will be able to continue their study abroad and improve their memorisation and knowledge of Al-Quran so that they can become a hafiz (a person who has memorised the entire Al-Quran) to educate the Muslim society in the sultanate.

The institute yesterday celebrated its fourth Haflut Takharruj (graduation ceremony) with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for the graduating students.

Yesterday’s event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by the guest of honour, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Mokti Hj Mohd Daud.

The deputy minister also handed over certificates of participation to the graduates.
