YSHHB holds gathering for Sultan’s Scholar Development Programme

THE Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) held a gathering at the Horizons Seafood Restaurant in the capital yesterday to look back at the outcomes of the Sultan’s Scholar Development Programme that launched last year.

In a statement yesterday YSHHB said that the programme’s purpose is to equip the prestigious scholarship recipients with the necessary knowledge and experience to be future leaders of the country.

It was previously reported that 14 Sultan’s Scholar students and alumni underwent a five-day workshop under the programme earlier this month while another two attended the Eighth Brunei-Singapore Scholars Programme 2016 held in Singapore between July 29 and August 5 of this year.

During the gathering, a representative each from the five-day workshop and the Brunei-Singapore programme gave a presentation on their experiences and knowledge gained from the programme. The Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman, who is also the chairman of the YSHHB Board of Directors and the co-chairman of the Sultan’s Scholar Steering Committee, was the guest of honour yesterday. Also present were the Minister of Home Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong, the Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Zulkarnain Hj Hanafi and Attorney General Datin Seri Paduka Hjh Hayati POKSDSP Hj Mohd Salleh as well as the Steering Committee members, Sultan’s Scholars Working Committee members, YSHHB officials and former recipients of the Sultan’s Scholar scheme.
