THE head of the Language and Literature Section under Tutong’s Badan Kesenian dan Kebudayaan (B2K) or Arts and Culture Body is looking to collaborate with local filmmakers for the adaption of their works into films.

On the sidelines of B2K’s second writers’ meet, Dr Chong Ah Fok said that their work can be adapted into films.

“Some of our books and novels are on par with some of our neighbouring countries that could transition well into films,” said Dr Chong.

He said that he was made aware that some local film makers face difficulty in finding content or good scripts for their films, which can be remedied by approaching the B2K.

“There are writers who can help the filmmakers tailor their story into something that would translate well with society’s values in addition to scriptwriting,” explained the language and literature head.

“They could come to our library and have conversations with our writers. I believe our writers are ready to shine in scriptwriting or in helping the filmmakers realise what story it is they are trying to tell on the big screen,” said Dr Chong.

“In the future, we do hope that local filmmakers would take our work to a different medium so it may help the writers have their story accessible in another way”.
