RBAirF to establish group to monitor its STAF 20 vision

THE Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) will establish a focus group to facilitate in monitoring its long-term vision entitled ‘Shaping Tomorrow Air Force in 20 Years’ or STAF 20.

STAF 20 is a blueprint of RBAirF’s medium and long term development planning produced in 2008 that set the roadmap of shaping the organisation for the next 20 years in terms of capabilities and resources.

 In a speech delivered by the RBAirF Commander during its 50th Anniversary yesterday at at the Air Movement Centre, RBAirF Base, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar Hj Ma’awiah said that with the presence of the focus group, STAF 20 will be updated in line with the passage of time and strategic need for the stability and relevance of the Air Force.

 This focus group, he said will work on a plan of actions directed towards optimising available resources.

 “It will identify aspects that need to be modified or improved. Steps of modernising the Royal Brunei Air Force are based on operational requirements or tasks as listed in the white paper on defense and regional strategic scenario.”

 Besides plans in strengthening and improving its direction for the next 20 years, the organisation will also continue to be committed with it’s overseas’ involvements.

“In regional level, the Royal Brunei Air Force is involved successfully in peace-keeping operation, humanitarian aid, joint training and so on which often get international recognitions,” said Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar.

 This also includes providing opportunities to RBAirF’s officers and personnel to work under international organisations that are recognised nationally, he added.

 As part of its initiative to strengthen bilateral relationships, the commander also said that RBAirF will continue to participate in military exercises such as Exercise Elang Bruneisa with Indonesia, Exercises SAREX Malbru with Malaysia, Exercises Air Guard with Singapore and Exercises CARAT with USA.
