THE Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) will be setting up payment clinics in Tutong, Temburong and Belait to allow vendors to claim payments owed by the government starting next Monday.

MOF said in a statement on Wednesday that the clinics enable vendors outside Brunei-Muara the convenience of setting up appointments with the Treasury Department in their respective districts to find out the status of the payments owed to them as well as other procurement and payment related matters.

Finance Officer Yumi Al Hanisah Hj Rosli said at MOF’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Roadshow in Belait on Wednesday that the vendor clinics will be housed within existing MOF treasury branches located at the district's respective government office complexes.

“We encourage the vendors or companies to call or email before hand to set an appointment with us so that we can help check with our accounting system and the relevant departments about the payment status,” she said.

The engagement prior to the appointment will also allow MOF to provide the vendor with what necessary documents need to be brought to the meeting, including the purchase order, invoice, payment voucher and letter of award.

Similar to the clinic at MOF’ss headquarters in Brunei-Muara, the clinic will operate from 8.30am to 3.30pm from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday.

Assistant Financial Officer at Belait's Sub-Treasury Hj Maswady Hj Amjah said the clinics would allow for payment queries and claims to be streamlined and addressed more effectively.

“With the setting up of the clinic in Belait (and other districts) it will be made a more simpler process for our vendors, as they will know directly where to go to and who to deal with for their queries,” he said.

Meanwhile Darussalam Enterprise (DARE) will also be setting up a Business Support Centre (BSC) in Belait by October, according to a representative from the statutory body who was also at the EODB roadshow.

BSC, first set up at DARE's Design and Technology Building in April, serves as an action centre where businesses can seek advice on business processes and file their respective business-related complaints. The EODB road show will continue to Tutong on September 14 at the Tutong Community Hall, followed by the Pekan Bangar Community Hall in Temburong on September 21.

Government agencies attending the road show also include the Royal Customs and Excise Department, Employees Trust Fund, Revenue Division and Registry of Companies and Business Names Division, Ports Department and Postal Services Department and Ministry of Home Affairs.

To make an appointment on government payments call the Treasury Department's Customer Service Call Centre at 2383444 or email Alternatively the department can also be contacted through the Ministry of Finance Facebook page.
