Judges review entries in photography contest

THE judging of photographs submitted for the ‘Wajah Wajah Abadi’ contest organised in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 70th birthday celebrations took place yesterday at the Brunei-Muara District Office.

According to a statement from the organising committee, a total of 33 contestants joined the competition and 53 photographs were selected for evaluation.

Category ‘A’ carries the theme Bersama KDYMM (Together with His Majesty), where photos should depict the monarch with members of the public during any of this year’s meet-and-greet sessions that took place in all four districts.

Category ‘B’ is themed Brunei Darussalam Ku Nan Indah (My Beautiful Brunei Darussalam), where photos should depict beautiful scenery in the sultanate.

Category ‘A’ received 34 photographs by 22 participants while the ‘B’ category had 19 photographs from 15 participants.

The panel consisted of five judges who are involved in the field of photography and from other backgrounds that were selected by the organising committee.

The head judge was the Information Department’s Masri Hj Osman. The other judges were Rudolf Portillo from The Brunei Times, Vincent Goh from Interhouse Marketing (B) Sdn Bhd, Hamidun Hj Md Noor from the Photography Association of Brunei Darussalam and Rusdin Hj Abd Aziz.

The results will be announced at a later date during a prize presentation ceremony.
