ROYAL Birthday Run 2016 has been rescheduled and will now take place on September 4, according to the Youth and Sports Department.

The event, which is being held to commemorate the 70th birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, was originally scheduled to be held on September 18.

The venues for the run, which will be organised simultaneously in all four districts, haven’t changed.

The Birthday Run will be held at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, the Mumong Sports Complex, the Tutong Sports Complex and the Temburong Sports Complex.

The department said in a statement yesterday that registration for participants in Brunei-Muara district will be moved from the Sports Section of the Youth and Sports Department on the sixth floor of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to the Media Centre of Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium starting on August 22 and will be open from 9am to 11.30am and 2pm to 3.30pm.

“The completed registration form along with the registration fee of $15 should be submitted no later than 3.30pm on August 27,” it said.

Participants of the run can collect their T-shirts and bib numbers on September 3 from 9am to 3.30pm at the same location.

The Birthday Run will have six categories, three of which will be conducted in all four districts: the 10km Open category for males and females aged 18 and above, the 5km Youth category for males and females aged 17 and below and the 3km Open Fun Run.

The remaining three categories will only be conducted in Brunei-Muara district: the 10km Veteran category for males and females aged 45 and above, the 3km Veteran category for males and females aged 70 and above and the People with Special Needs category.

The run is open to all Bruneian citizens and permanent residents as well as foreigners with a purple or green IC that are residing in Brunei.
