Minister meets Muslim NGO members

THE minister of religious affairs received a courtesy call from the Regional Islamic Da’wah Council for Southeast Asia and the Pacific yesterday.

The council is in the country to strengthen cooperation in religious affairs, particularly propagating Islam in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

The delegation was led by Hj Ridzuan Wu, RISEAP’s deputy president.

RISEAP is a non-governmental organisation that aims to strengthen cooperation and close relations between Islamic organisations in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

To promote Islam, RISEAP provides training to its members, including construction of mosques and prayer halls, collection and distribution of zakat (tithe), halal certification, and the development of relations between the Muslim and non-Muslim community.

Also present during the courtesy call were Deputy Permanent Secretary of Religious Affairs Hj Harun Hj Junid and Acting Director of Islamic Da’wah Centre Hj Abdul Aziz Hj Abdul Kahar.
