YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) handed over donations totaling $27,900 to fire victims of the Kg Kilugus Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme in Lumapas and Kg Sungai Kebun on Thursday.

The donations were presented to six families in a ceremony held at YSHHB’s headquarters in Kumbang Pasang by its Managing Director, Hj Brahim Hj Ismail.

According to a press statement from YSHHB, the donations were received by the head of each family. They were Amiruddin Hj Mumin, Hamdan Hj Daud, Siti Jarah Hj Ering, Norsharizahwati Mohd Said, Hj Md Jaafar Hj Awang Ering and Rosita Mohammad.

YSHHB said one of the objectives of its establishment in the field of welfare was to provide care and assistance to the less fortunate such as victims of housing collapses and house fires.

YSHHB was established in 1992 as a result of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah in conjunction with the celebration of the silver jubilee of the monarch’s reign.

It aims to be a means of charity by His Majesty to the people of the sultanate based on five objectives — religion, welfare, education, development and finance.
