14 babies share birth date with His Majesty
BELAIT/BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
IT WAS a time for double celebrations as the second child of a couple from Seria was born on the same day as His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Coincidentally the birthdate of their eldest also fell on July 15.
Chaudai Anak Kadir and Malessa Tinggang said they were surprised and touched by the turn of events as they were not expecting the delivery of their second child to fall on the same day as their first.
Their eldest child, Daierenn Hasnal, turned 10 on Friday
Chaudai said doctors were expecting his wife to deliver the baby around July 25 or July 26.
“We never expected it to be on July 15 but we are happy nevertheless as our second child was born perfectly healthy,” said Malessa.
Chaudai and Malessa’s child is among four newborns — two boys and two girls — recorded at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait on July 15.
Customary to Brunei’s national celebrations, ceremonies were held at public hospitals nationwide to present the parents and newborns with gifts.
In the Brunei-Muara district, nine births were recorded at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital – two boys and seven girls.
The first baby borned on the day in the district weighed 3.4kg and was delivered at 7.46am to Mohd Hairul Hilmi Hj Abd Kadir and Rosleaynah Abit.
Speaking to The Brunei Times at a thanksgiving ceremony at RIPAS hospital yesterday, the housewife expressed hopes that her fourth child will grow up to become a noble, trustworthy and pious man.
Another housewife, Rozita Ahmad, gave birth to her fifth child, a girl named Nur Qairatul Aini Ufaira Balqis who weighed 4.070kg at birth.
Kartika Suhaimi also gave birth to her fifth born weighing 3.6kg.
“We don’t have a name for our baby yet but InsyaAllah we will have one in the next few days,” said Kartika.
The Temburong district, meanwhile, recorded one birth — a boy — to parents Junhemizam Juna and Noonie Navilla Anak Ejau.
He was born at 4.59am and weighed 3.240kg.
No births were recorded at Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong district.
