BRUNEI Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) has stopped all sales from the Bunut Shell service station to investigate reports from the public of their vehicles being affected by water contaminated fuel.

In a press statement, BSM said five vehicles were suspected to have been affected by the “unfortunate incident,” adding that the company “shares the same concern as the public.”

“Upon receiving the reports of potential contamination from affected customers (on July 7), quality checks were conducted and the suspected underground tank has been isolated.

“The (affected) station is in close communication with the affected customers for compensation of genuine claims,” it said.

The company said it believes the water contaminated fuel at the Bunut station was an isolated incident and has assured the public that product quality assurance is conducted before their products are distributed to retail stations.

BSM is urging the public to contact their call centre at 2244739 or email if they have any suspected fuel contamination or any other enquiries.
