Celebrating Hari Raya with VIPs

BRUNEI observed Hari Raya Aidil Fitri on Wednesday together with other Muslims around the world.

Families and friends across the Sultanate held open houses to celebrate the first day of Syawal including several prominent figures in the nation.

Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Nawawi Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Hj Mohd Taha, the private and confidential secretary to His Majesty, held his open house in Kg Mata-Mata.

Among those that attended the open house was Member of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Yang Berhormat Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Yang Jian and Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nurul Qomar.

Also present was D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director Jackson Ting.

Guests were treated to a variety of food and a massive dessert spread including the king of fruits, the Durian. Meanwhile, the Minister of Education (MoE) Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman also welcomed guests at his open house in Kg Sg Tilong.

Among the well wishers was the Ambassador of the United States of American to Brunei, His Excellency Craig Allen, along with other invited foreign dignitaries.

The Minister’s guests were also treated to a mix of delicious food and colourful drinks.

Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is celebrated annually by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

It is a joyous occasion, celebrating the achievement of enhanced piety. Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is also a time of forgiveness, moral victory, peace of congregation, fellowship, brotherhood and unity.

The festive season is also an opportunity for family and friends to gather and strengthen relations.
