Payment and service counters, museums to close for Aidil Fitri

THE Land Transport Department (LTD) yesterday announced that all payment counters at its offices nationwide will be closed for three working days during the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebrations.

In a statement, LTD said the exact dates of the closure will be dependent upon the outcome of the sighting of the new moon, which will be held this evening.

Should the first day of the month of Syawal fall on July 6, LTD payment counters will be closed from that day until July 9.

If the first day of Syawal falls on July 7, LTD payment counters will then be closed until July 11.

The department will resume working hours as per normal from 8am and 11.30am and from 1pm and 3pm after it reopens following the Aidil Fitri holidays.

Post Office service counters in Brunei will be closed during the first three days of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, and will resume operations on the fourth day.

The Postal Services Department, in a press statement yesterday, said that if Hari Raya Aidil Fitri falls on Wednesday all counters will be closed from July 6 to July 9. The counters will reopen on July 11. If Hari Raya falls on July 7, then post offices counters will close from July 7 to 11. The counters will reopen on July 12.

Even museums under the Museums Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will be closed for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration and for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 70th birthday.

The Museums Department in a statement yesterday said the museums — Malay Technology Museum; Royal Regalia Building; Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park; Art Gallery at the Royal Wharf; Brunei Maritime Museum; Sports Gallery at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium and Kota Baru Archaeological Park, will be closed on the first and second day of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.

The museums will be closed for a day on July 15 in conjunction with His Majesty’s birthday.
