State Mufti’s Office launches 3 new books

THE State Mufti’s Office yesterday launched three new books which highlight the importance of loving our parents, Malay Muslim Monarchy (MIB) and marriage.
The first book titled ‘Sayangi Ibu Bapa’ which was written by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awg Abdul Aziz Juned focuses on loving, giving appreciation and respecting our parents.
In the book, the State Mufti states that even after their passing, we must continue to give our love, appreciation and respect to our parents as well as to pray for their rahmat (mercy) and to carry out our responsibilities.
“Our doa (prayers) will become the khazanah (treasure), insyaAllah the rewards will be given to our parents if not in this world, in the hereafter.”
The book states that there should be no end to loving, appreciating and respecting our parents.
The second book titled ‘Memartabatkan Seni Bina Melayu Islam Beraja’ talks about the Islamic and non-Islamic architecture.
The book states that Islamic architecture should feature the greatness of Allah as our Creator and the Malay Muslim Monarchy (MIB), which represents the Bruneian identity.
The third book titled ‘Bahtera Perkahwinan’ is a collection of 66 of the State Mufti’s fatwa between 1994-2013 which touch on various topics on marriage, wali (supporter, guardian or protector), polygamy, divorce, nafkah (alimony), marriage ceremony and traditions, among others.
The first book is priced at $2, while the second and third are priced $2 and $10 respectively.
The books were launched by the Acting Deputy State Mufti Dr Hj Mazanan Hj Yusof.
Copies of the ‘Sayangi Ibu Bapa’ and ‘Memartabatkan Seni Bina Melayu Islam Beraja’ books were then presented to the Curriculum Development of the Ministry of Education (MoE).
The books will be used as compulsory books for the MIB subject for students of Year Four to 11.
Copies of the book were also donated to several libraries and higher education institutions including the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Politeknik Brunei. In his speech, Dr Hj Mazanan said the State Mufti’s Office has published a total of 101 books financed through itsthe State Mufti’s Office fund which was established to systematically collect, develop and disseminate knowledge of Islam in line with the office’s vision as a reference centre on Islam.
“The books written by the State Mufti not only answer questions asked but also guides the Muslim community.”
He added the books which contain da’wah (preaching of Islam) invites, guides and teaches Muslims to obey Allah SWT’s commands and to stay away from negative influences.
The book launching ceremony took place at the Darulifta’ lobby of the State Mufti’s Office.
