MUSLIMS are encouraged to continue performing good deeds even after the blessed month of Ramadhan, said the minister of Religious Affairs.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman noted Muslims in the country have been actively taking part in a number of charities to help those in need during the month of Ramadhan.

“We have performed a lot of charities and good deeds, which is recommended by our religion. We have paid attention to our community,” he told _The Brunei Times _yesterday during the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ (MoRA) handing over of donations to orphans and those underprivileged at the ministry.

From his observation, he said Muslims in the country have also been active in taking part in religious activities during Ramadhan, in which he encouraged Muslims to also continue to pray and take part in such activities.

He said he has also seen positive initiatives taken by parents, such as bringing their children during tarawih prayers. He added that the youth have also been active in organising and taking part in religious activities.

“This development, InsyaAllah, will only continue to make our religion stronger,” the minister said. “If we continue (to perform good deeds and pray), it will stick with us as a daily practice.”

YB Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin went on to advise Muslims to not forget to make time for prayers during the upcoming Raya celebrations.

Although he said Raya is a platform to further strengthen relationships with others, the minister said Muslims must plan their visits and celebrations to ensure they do not miss out on prayers.

He then advised those celebrating Raya to have self control so that the Raya celebration can bring joy and give rise to a positive atmosphere.
