THE Ministry of Communications’ Land Transport Department (LTD) is calling on parties interested to become bus service providers to attend the first Information Day tomorrow.

The Information Day will address the LTD’s request for Expression of Interest (EOI) that was opened recently, the department said in a statement yesterday.

The bid, which opened last Saturday, is the department’s attempt to find bus service providers that can provide the country with efficient transport services.

“The Information Day will provide the interested parties more information in regards to the initiatives carried out by the department, including the revamping of the nationwide bus route networks,” read the statement.

The Information Day will be held at 9am on the third floor of the LTD headquarters in Beribi. It was previously reported that the nation’s bus routes have increased from 29 to 42, comprising 28 main bus routes in Brunei-Muara, five in Kuala Belait and Seria, two in Tutong, two in Temburong and five inter-district routes.

The ministry had also vowed to review its policies on public transport services in the country which is hoped to also identify and address weaknesses. The public transport revamp project was targeted to be implemented by the third quarter of this year for taxis, while buses are targeted to be implemented by the middle of 2017.
